It looks a bit interesting!
Plenty there for the freeze-framers to get their teeth into.

Yeah, this is going to get some people talking. What is Amy doing at the end? Who is the woman we hear talking at the beginning (it isn’t River), for example (River says the bit about the “knowing who I really am” but someone else speaks the first bit). The scariest bit might well be the clown, though. Not kidding! Apparently the trailer had to be cut to some ridiculous length like 20 seconds to be suitable for broadcast on CBBC. LOL.

@Alex: I was certain that the first voice we hear is that of River, but on re-listening I think you might be right. Certainly the “sound ambiance” of the first few sentences is quite different from the “knowing who I really am” bit, so not recorded in the same place. And the first voice is not a low as River’s even if the intonation is very similar. I guess will find out soon enough.

And isn’t that the old (9/10 th Doctor) Tardis control room in there?

And isn’t that the old (9/10 th Doctor) Tardis control room in there?

OMG, I noticed that too!!!!

It totally is.  I’ve screen-grabbed the image and analyzed it.  The roundels are the same, the console is the same and so are the support beams.

If this is supposed to be Omega’s TARDIS, then they are clearly using the old set from the Russel T Davies era and that just sucks.
If, however, they are actually inside Eccleston’s / Tennant’s TARDIS, then we have a VERY exciting episode in which our characters have collided with the previous Doctor’s TARDIS.
How exciting that would be!  Maybe even get a guest appearance by one of the said actors (ummm, can you say ratings grab?).  Mind you, if Moffat is changing everything we know about Dr Who by the mid-season break, then that change would very likely have to be precipitated by some paradoxical interface with timelines / other TARDISes or something like that.
The one thing that they HAVE to address (and soon!) is how to get rid of the mythology set up from the classic series: that a Time Lord can only regenerate 12 times.  I suspect that this is what Steven Moffat is going to be changing.

@ Stephen. They already addressed the 12-regeneration limit in The Sarah Jane Adventures (sort of).
I can’t see it being Omega because Omega is a Time Lord and therefore isn’t likely to utter a phrase like “I’ve killed many Time Lords”.
I spotted the old-style TARDIS as well. Bear in mind that it was Moffat who established in the canon that the appearance of the control room is a desktop theme, so there may be some less-sinister reason why the TARDIS changed, like a reboot, perhaps. It’s also been suggested that the coral might even be the default setting. It’ll be interesting to see how things turn out. I think the “fundamental change” is going to have something to do with whatever it is Amy does at the end of the trailer and why she does it. The whole regeneration limit is just a fan thing; I can’t see him rearranging the whole broadcast format of the show just for that.

Hi alex.  I’ve only seen season 1 of the SJA.  Please let me know how the 12 regeneration thing is addressed ( sort of ) as I’d very much like to know.

I don’t think he’s rearranging the whole broadcast format of the show just for the fundamental change ( whatever that may end up being ).

I was of the strong belief that the break in the season was to ( wisely ) avoid the slump in the viewing figures that’s been happening every year when the weather gets nice and warm in the UK (people stay outside more, rather than stay glued to the televsion).

Many Dr.Who sites tend to blame the nice weather whenever the figures drop (and they DO drop as the summer reaches its peak).  I always thought a Spring start didn’t make much sense for this very reason and I as hoping to see a day when Dr.Who would air in the autumn.

And now we have it… or at least the latter half of the season anyway.

Do you think I could be wrong in thinking that the mid-season break up has to do with “slumping figures due to nice summer weather”?

One theory bouncing around the internet is that somehow Rory and Amy have travelled back in time to when the 10th Doctor regenerates into the 11 Doctor. When you think of it, Steve Moffat is heavy with the Timey Wimey stuff and perhaps Amy and Rory go back in time to make sure the TARDIS crashes like it does in The Eleventh Hour to ensure The Doctor meets the young Amy. Although I think this theory is unlikely, if it were true and they were witnessing the regeneration of Tennant to Smith then perhaps something will happen that will answer a question that has been bugging me since the opening sequence of The Eleventh Hour: Just what the hell was The Doctor doing hanging outside the TARDIS!

Been offline for a few days…wow, some treats! I think it is River who speaks the beginning lines but that it’s not from the same speech. I don’t think we’ll see the Doctor’s finest hour and find out who River really is in the same episode. However, I’ve been wrong before and if I’m wrong in this regard, I’ll take my coat off. wink

I love the theory about Rory and Amy going back in time. OMG I can’t wait for the new series the trailer looks ace! That clown looks quite scary when it turns its head when it’s sat on the bed :O
