It’s almost that time…...

image

Five years ago the Doctor Who world was buzzing with excitement as the first pictures from filming of the new series with a new Doctor and new companion surfaced on the internet. That excitement is about to descend upon us again. A lucky fan in Cardiff managed to snap this picture of herself with a couple of people who used to be fairly unknown six months ago, but are set to become household names in the UK, and is the surest sign yet that filming is about to begin in Cardiff on Matt Smith’s first season of Doctor Who. Eagle-eyed fans might recognize this as Cardiff Bay, where a number of Who and Torchwood episodes have been shot (you can see the Restaurant jutting out from into the Bay where a scene in Boomtown was filmed all those years ago).

This pic is not of the actors in costume, yet I can’t help but feel that Matt Smith looks very much like the Doctor even out of costume, and he and Karen Gillan look like they are going to be a great TARDIS team. Filming apparently starts next week and we should get the first pics of them in costume by that time.

Does The Doctor keep getting younger with each regeneration?

Posted by Timbo  on  07/17  at  03:43 PM

Hehe, that would be funny.  By the time he reached regeneration number 14 he’d probably look like a twelve-year-old XD

Well, he’s wearing a striped scarf. What more do you want?

Yeah, The Doctor in a Mickey Mouse shirt.  Maybe he’ll be wearing the ears too.  LOL

I think they might want to take a step back. That fangirl looks like she’s about to explode from sheer glee.

Re:Timbo
No, they don’t get younger. They bounce around a bit. Tom Baker regenerated into 29-year-old Peter Davison (only a few years older than Matt) and then to 40 year old Colin Baker and then to McCoy who was about the same age. The three Doctors of the revival have been getting progressively younger—in actor, anyway—but that doesn’t mean anything. The Twelfth Doctor for all we know could be played by a Dumbledore type. Or they could go with a teenager. The wonderful thing about Doctor Who is there are no rules for this sort of thing. They could have gone with a black actor, or a woman—and for all we know they may still do so.
