YouTubing It #29
One of my favourite versions of the Doctor Who theme is the version used for the Doctor Who audios by David Arnold (him of the brilliant post-John Barry James Bond scores and the man who did the theme to Sherlock). Indeed, often I found David Arnold’s rendition of the theme to be better than the actual Paul McGann audios.
I’ve always wanted to see what they might look like on screen. Well thanks to an enterprising fan, some video editing software and disparate elements from other title sequences, we can see what it might have looked like on screen.

My problem with the Arnold theme is that it’s too quiet. There’s been times when I’ve been playing a McGann audio in my car player and the theme is inaudible. Still, it’s cool they got such a big name to contribute a version, though I appreciate the fact that they usually use the applicable era’s theme when doing the Fifth, Sixth, etc Doctors. I’ve always assumed Big Finish wasn’t able to get the rights to the TV movie version which is why they commissioned a new one.
