The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe

Yes, that is the title of the 2011 Christmas special, and for those that haven’t seen it yet, here is the trailer:

I don’t know about you, but for some reason I’d love to see a Target novelization of this story with the title “Doctor Who and the Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe”. Actually they should be doing Target novelizations for all the new series stories, especially if they could be published under such titles as “Doctor Who and the Silents Invasion of Earth”, “Doctor Who and the Shopping Mall-Base” and “Doctor Who and the Cave Monsters - Again!’

Does this fall under the theme of ‘Doctor = God’? smile

Am I the only one whon noticed that the title ” The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe” is a reference to the book ” The Lion , The Witch and The Wardrobe” by C. S Lewis?

Nicole, I noticed it to. The background setting to the beginning of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is the second world war, and I believe that so does “The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe”. I’m slightly apprehensive about this episode - how different to the story is this going to be to be a unique episode, yet obviously there’s going to be similiarities between the two as well. It could be a great one episodic story, or it could just fall flat. We’ll have to wait and see!

Actually, that’s what I was referencing in my earlier post; clearly the connection was a bit too oblique, my apologies. smile By parallel, the Doctor would be the Lion, ie Aslan, ie Christ/God.

It’s now Nov. 25, with one month to go until Christmas. Shouldn’t Space and BBC America have confirmed their airdates by now? Just sayin’...
