The 2012 Timelash Awards - Part Three
Here we are with the next category of the Timelash Awards (or the Lashies as someone suggested). This one is for the things lost and found in 2011…
The Things most painfully lost award goes jointly to Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney, two titans of Doctor Who. Sarah Jane Smith and the Brigadier are icons in popular culture today by the warmth and charm these actors brought to the characters. Their deaths in the early part of 2011 are still felt by Doctor Who fandom even now.
The things most joyously found award goes to Galaxy 4, episode three and The Underwater Menace episode two, two episodes of 1960s Who that resurfaced this past December. While it may not have been the lost episodes of Who fans really wanted, these two episodes show Who in critical phases of its development—with Galaxy 4, it’s on the cusp of Verity Lambert’s departure as founding producer; with The Underwater Menace it’s near the start of Patrick Troughton’s era as the Doctor—and we can’t wait for it to come out on DVD.
