Third Doctor Who Adventure Games episode available; still no Mac version
The third installment of the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games series, TARDIS, issued during the summer as a free download for BBC license fee payers in the UK, has been released internationally for sale via the Direct 2 Drive game download service.
Direct 2 Drive’s order page says the game is available along with the as-yet-untitled Episode 4 of the set, which is being offered as part of the bundle as a pre-order (presumably meaning buyers will be able to download it once it gets released by BBC Worldwide - no date for this has been announced). Price: US$8.95.

Sadly, it appears Mac users continue to be disenfranchised. Although Mac versions were created and circulated in the UK for the first three games, none have been (legally) circulated internationally and Direct 2 Drive offers only the Windows versions. A number of tech bloggers have chased Direct 2 Drive looking for a reason (the service does offer Mac games) and reportedly the blame lies with BBC Worldwide who decided to only circulate the Windows version outside the UK.

PS. Mac users aren’t the only ones feeling left out. This week also sees the release of Evacuation Earth, a Doctor Who game for the Nintendo DS, with Return to Earth, another game coming out for the Wii on Nov. 19 (just announced as delayed - it was originally to have been out this week, too). That is, if you happen to be in Europe. As with past console games based on Doctor Who, no international release has been announced, nor as far as I can tell is one expected (but if you do find them in Canada, please say so!).
