I thought this was a marvellous bit of fun - the type of story Doctor Who, especially the revival, does so well. It looks to me that this might count as the “xxxx-lite” episode of the season (I read somewhere this might be because of Karen Gillan filming scenes for some online game planned for the BBC website that we probably won’t be able to see here, which is why I don’t consider that a spoiler, really). Corden is fun - he sort of has a John Candy air about him. It’s too bad his “sci fi TV” cred took a knock with his on stage argument with Patrick Stewart during a recent awards show. That said, I hope the idea of the Doctor keeping the keys means we get to see him and his girlfriend again. The Lodger Part 2 doesn’t have a bad ring to it.
The only thing that felt a bit offputting to me was the way the Doctor transferred his knowledge—via a headbutt? It’s a good thing Ten didn’t have that same idea in mind when he mind-melded with Madame de Pompadour! I’m also a bit concerned that Moffat may be overdoing the “remind the viewers of past Doctors” gimmick. It has be wondering if maybe he’s setting something up for later.
I loved the dialogue in this one. I feel Matt Smith found his performance voice in the role a few weeks back, but this was the episode in which he really sounded like a unique Doctor. The bit about not knowing why he’s called the Doctor was hilarious.

a great, fun episode & matt smith is on top of his game. his doctor really is my favourite of the new incarnations (eccleston, tennant, smith).

I loved this episode. I feel like the last five episodes have made up for the earilier ones, they seemed to have developed better stories as they go along, this one being the best so far, with the Vincent Van Gogh close behind. I loved how this episode seemed to be part “My Favorite Martian” and part “Spaced”. I’ve often wondered how the Doctor would behave in real life, would he tone down his behavior to fit in? The answer is, OF COURSE NOT! He doesn’t stop being brillant in this episode, even without a sonic screwdriver or TARDIS, he stays the same old mad alien. Matt Smith was likewise brillant, showing us what his Doctor is about: Slightly batty, goofy sometimes, unaware of boundaries or ignoring them, and a love of new things (mundane or fantastic). My fears that the stories of this season would leave alot to be desired are mostly gone, I look forward more and more to new episodes knowing they’re trying new things and new depths to the character. For those who thought Matt Smith would be a terrible Doctor, I point to this episode and say “Ha”!

Ahaha, that was a good romp! I loved the Doctor’s psychic conversation with the cat, and Craig was a wonderfully rounded character.
To me the only thing that I didn’t quite like was the actual alien bits - the end felt as though it just got pulled out of thin air and tacked on. Rather disappointing, the “help me, please!” bits were SO terrifying! And I know I’m being a complete sour-puss, but the love confessions and make-out sessions nearly had me changing the channel.
Random thought: maybe it’s just my artist’s mind making strange connections, but Matt reminded me very distinctly of a giraffe when he played soccer; long, skinny, knobby legs and a ridiculously gangly gait!

A great episode. Loved seeing The Doctor all “domestic”. When Amy found the ring I thought for a moment, since she no longer remembers Rory, that she might think it was a “surprise” from The Doctor.

The shower scene, omelets, TV, football, carrying for sick friend, working the 9 to 5 ... the doctor domesticated is odd and yet very entertaining.
