Ducks win the cup, Runaway Bride wins a broadcast

What a bizarre turn of events the past week or so. First we find out that the CBC is starting its run of Doctor Who on June 18 with Smith and Jones and not The Runaway Bride. Then we discover that the CBC will show The Runaway Bride a week earlier, on June 11…provided the Stanley Cup Finals don’t go to game 7.

Well, looks like the Ottawa Senators’ loss is Doctor Who fans gain. We’re getting The Runaway Bride on Monday, June 11!

It’s bizarre scheduling to say the least…almost scheduling by stealth: start your program a week early than previously scheduled with the Christmas special that starts out the season. Or not, if the hockey goes on too long.

Even so: Doctor Who is back, it’s all good…unless you’re a fan of the Senators.
