New Who this summer, only months after the CBC finally got around to finishing Series 2?

The Runaway Bride is part of Series 3 if anywhere as that’s where it’ll end up when released on the DVD set.
Presumably it’ll start soon after the Stanley Cup Finals are over. This is good news in one way for Canadian fans as it’s been moved up a few months in the schedule. On the other hand it could be seen as a burn-off i.e. getting them out of the way before the fall and more embarassing ratings. Embarassing to the CBC’s home-grown shows that is.
This could be the start of the end of Doctor Who on CBC. Next stop SPACE or SHOWCASE?

Wow! This is very cool news. Ryan, why may this be the end of DW on CBC? I’ve noticed that the end credits for the last 3 episodes or so dropped the CBC credit—is it a financial thing, or what?

IIRC the last 3 episodes Army of Ghosts, Doomsday and The Runaway Bride were the first episodes to credit the CBC on a BBC broadcast. CBC is credited on the international end credits and on the DVD end credits.
If it was different on the CBC showing then I don’t know about that.
I speculate it might be the end because they may have no committment past Series 3 and intend not to renew past that point. If that’s the case then showing it in the summer may be a lowest-profile way to do so.

Well… at least its not quite a delay as with season 2. Hopefully the CBC does not put a break in it as with season 2. I think I’ll skip Torchwood in fall 07 seeing as IMO I didn’t like it very much at all.

The break in Series Two was for Christmas. I’m not expecting a surprise second Christmas this summer.

Unless CBC decides to have Christmas early. Yep, I think will. Or most likely CBC will delay it because they want a summer movie line up.
