Episode titles for Season 6.1 finalized (poss. spoilers)

image
The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out in the UK this week (but not available in Canada for another month) has revealed a revised list of episode titles for the first half of Season 6, which debuts on Space on April 23.

Few of these titles are obvious spoilers, with the possible exception of Neil Gaiman’s Episode 4. Of note is several episode titles have been changed from previous announcements. Of course, there’s nothing saying any of these might not change again before broadcast:

1. The Impossible Astronaut - Steven Moffat
2. Day of the Moon - Steven Moffat
3. The Curse of the Black Spot - Steve Thompson
4. The Doctor’s Wife - Neil Gaiman (of Sandman, Stardust and Coraline fame)
5. The Rebel Flesh - Matthew Graham (co-creator of Life on Mars)
6. The Almost People - Matthew Graham
7. A Good Man Goes to War - Steven Moffat

Of course for anyone not aware, episodes 1/2 and 5/6 are two-parters, and it’s likely episode 7 and the first episode of the second half will be too.

So far the only confirmed episode titles (again subject to change) from the second half of the season are What Are Little Boys Made Of? by Mark Gatiss (the comparisons to Star Trek TOS’s classic What Are Little Girls Made Of? will be inevitable) and The God Complex by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse.

Just as an aside, I just found out that in a reversal of what we’ve had to put up with with DWM being delayed a month over here, the new North American magazine Doctor Who Insider (which I think is released today) isn’t being released in the UK for a month, so they’ll have to wait for a change! (Also, I’m referring to release to comic book shops; DWM usually takes more like 6-7 weeks before it makes it to the regular magazine shops and Indigo/Chapters.)

I believe Mark Gatiss said that “What Are Little Boys Made Of?” was definitely only a working title, and agreed by the production team that it would not go out under that title.

@Andrew. That wouldn’t surprise me. Really, none of the titles are final-final until the Radio Times comes out. Would you believe that “The Impossible Astronaut”, despite being already premiered at the Doctor Who Experience earlier this week and due to be shown in New York on the weekend, is actually still not 100% official because the BBC has yet to confirm airdate and title with only two weeks to go?

*POSSIBLE* spoilers?

@Rod I put that there because some people react badly to seeing the story titles in advance, calling them spoilers. Personally, the only one that’s a possible spoiler is the Gaiman one - but how spoilery can a title be if it’s being revealed weeks in advance? It’s not as if any of the titles were things like “The Death of the Rani” or “The One Where Amy Becomes a Zombie and the Doctor Does a Surprise Regeneration and Becomes Ricky Gervais”. wink

Looking at the first issue of DWI they might want it to take a few years to reach them!

@Ryan

I have to agree. At the risk of sidetracking the discussion, I was very disappointed in Doctor Who Insider. It’s pretty obvious Panini is trying not to compete with DWM because the average DWM takes me a couple hours to read because it’s loaded with content. DWI is a pamphlet.
