Doctor Who Continues into 2007!

At a BAFTA screening of the season finale The Parting of the Ways on June 15th it was officially confirmed by BBC Head of Drama Jane Tranter that a third season of the new series of Doctor Who had been commissioned, this one expected for 2007. Additionally, another _Christmas special_ has been commissioned for December 2006, to bridge the gap between the 2006 and 2007 Seasons.

This means that after the 13th episode of the current season, The Parting of the Ways, airs, Doctor Who fans will have at least another 28 45 minute (or 60 minute in a couple of cases) episodes to look forward to.

It was also announced that Billie Piper will return as Rose Tyler for the entirety of the 2006 season.

The name of the 2005 Christmas special, the debut story featuring David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor, has been announced as The Christmas Invasion.
