Running Through Corridors

The Doctor is chased by a Minotaur and his lifestyle catches up with him in the latest episode, The God Complex. What did you think of where the Doctor, Rory and Amy wind up at the end? Let us know in the comments section.

The TARDIS file for The God Complex is now up on the DWIN site! .

(For those looking for the TARDIS File of last week’s episode, The Girl Who Waited, the writer caught the plague and is now the red waterfall room. We’re hoping he feels better soon and can have it up later this week!)

Oh and by way of a plug, if you want to read some great Doctor Who fan fiction produced by some amazing writers, walk, don’t run and check out the latest issue of our Fiction Zine, Myth Makers, which is out now! Also the latest issue of Enlightenment is now available with a great tribute to Lis Sladen.

‘The God Complex’ takes off from a hobbled starting position - the third episode in a row to be set within the lost confines of a single structure.  Worse, following two that weren’t necessarily that successful at it.

However, where ‘Night Terrors’ turned out to be anything but, and ‘The Girl Who Waited’ really shouldn’t have bothered, ‘The God Complex’ turns out to be quite complex and the building finally stacks up to be more than the sum of its rooms.

Well done all round.

Awesome… Beautiful, stylish, creepy, mirrors everywhere.

I was sure this episode would take on the Doctor’s attitude.  There have been frequent sotto voce references to God and the Eleventh Doctor.

(“You gave me hope and then you took it away. That’s enough to make anyone dangerous. God knows what it’ll do to me.”

“You know the stories about the Doctor? The things that man has done? God help us if you make him angry!”

“He is not the devil. He is not a god.”)

I just thought the story would be more about the Clerics and the Papal Mainframe than about the Doctor’s ego.  But maybe there is a morsel concerning defense against the use of faith as a weapon.

Also, a quick check of ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ seems to show that yes, Rory and Amy live in a flat when they’re at home.  Is this still in Leadworth?  Why does the Doctor give them the keys to a house they don’t recognize this week, as well as the Jag?  Who lives upstairs?  How long is the lease?  Has Rory retrieved his Mini from the police lock-up after it was found in the middle of that field?  Is the new sports car insured?  I can’t see the tax disc in the windshield.  Who’s left it parked outside with the top down, in England?

@Eric - the episode takes on the psychological term “god complex” as discussed in the episode. I think that makes for a far more interesting story than something related to religion, and also more relevant given the discussion in A Good Man Goes to War. Indeed, far from being “non-arc” as some have complained, this episode is a direct followup to A Good Man Goes to War in almost every conceivable way. In fact, in my opinion THIS could be seen as the episode where the Doctor falls further than before - Vastra was just off by a few episodes.

The front door of Rory and Amy’s new house is tardis blue. THe house they were in at the begining of ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ was glass. You can see it when Amy gets the letter.
It is threfore not the same house.

So, a bit slow on the uptake here, admittedly, but—are Rory and Amy leaving the show????
