Miracle Days

The premiere dates across the Atlantic for the 4th season of Torchwood - Miracle Day - are now known. Starz will have the world premiere in the US on Friday July 8th. Canada (as well as Australia) will show the first episode one day later, Saturday July 9th (with the Space broadcast beginning at 9pm). The BBC will not start their broadcasts until Thursday July 14th, which means that with if you have any British friends watching on the BBC, you’ll have to be careful not to give away spoilers to them (rather than the other way round, as might typically have been the case with Doctor Who-related programmes)

An extra bonus for the Space broadcasts is that Space has also recentlly announced that they will finally have an HD Channel, which will start broadcasting on July 6th, just in time for viewers to see all those guns being pointed at the screen (see picture above) in High Definition. Its also good news for the second half of the next season of Doctor Who when it is shown on space, as well (presmably) any subsequent Space repeat broadcast of Doctor Who from Planet of the Dead (the first story to be shot in HD) onwards.

When I read Friday morning about SPACE going HD (in time for Torchwood!), I was literally grinning all day.
I’m on Bell Fibe so I’ll have it for sure - hopefully there won’t be a delay for all those with other cable providers.

And I must say I was also quite amused by the UK being a week behind us - of course it would be best for everyone to have it the same day or same weekend at least, but it will seem strange knowing this time it’ll be the fans over the pond either waiting or having to find alternate viewing methods.

Space HD will not be on Rogers. Apparently Bell hasn’t put up the channel for bidding. I don’t know…this was on their on-line forum and some dude from Robbers…sorry, I meant Rogers, said the HD channel will not be added to their lineup. This sucks.

Space is also showing a Torchwood marathon on Canada Day weekend.

Although I have an HD-capable set, I’m not interested in paying a lot extra in order to receive HD broadcasts and having to get the converter or whatever it is Shaw requires. I don’t even know if Shaw is offering SpaceHD. Personally, I enjoy the broadcasts as-is and then get the bonus of HD when I buy the Blu-ray later.

But what does this mean for non-HD programming on Space? Will this mark the end of, say, rebroadcasts of the older (pre-Planet of the Dead) episodes? Of older movies?

does anyone know if ITunes will make this show available?

Alex - I’m under the impression that Space will not be changing their line-ups, their announcement says something to the effect that programmes available in HD will now be shown in HD.  Other pre/non-HD programming will still be shown in SD…which is the case with all other ‘HD’ networks anyway.
