YouTubing It #31
Oh dear me, (blows some cobwebs off the blog). Sorry. I’ve been sick for over a month, and had a book launched, the DWIN website was sick for a while too (it’s now better, thanks to our webmistress Christine) and… who knows what else happened to everyone else.
Anyway, let’s get back into the blog posting mood with this fantastic piece which brilliantly edits together the different Doctors to the tune of U2’s “One”...
I’m not the biggest fan of music videos with Doctor Who clips, but when it’s done well I have no complaints. And I have no complaints here. The editing is unbelievably clever, and you come away from it with a real sense that it’s adventures in the life of the same man, no matter the body. One to remember for the 50th anniversary for sure.

Meh. Fail. It’s cut *WAY* too fast for this song. Replace song with Motorhead’s Ace of Spades, White Zombie’s More Human Than Human, or Ministry’s NWO and I’ll consider it. In fact I’m watching it now with iTunes playing other songs and I’m enjoying it MUCH more.

My favorite of all time remains the Babelcolour “What About Everything” clip. But I do appreciate it when we see people do tribute videos who actually remember - or know - that there’s 26-year history before Eccleston came along. Too often I’ve seen folks either post clips where they state “don’t care what happened before 2005” (or sometimes 2010!) or the clips are sappy romance videos pairing the Doctor with Rose, or Jack, or Amy, or whatever. I only have ever found two of those types of videos that I liked - a very early “Love Don’t Roam” that touched on various romances from the first two seasons, and a very funny slideshow clip from 2008 from the point of view of Jack and done to the tune of “Seven Little Girls Sitting in the Backseat”. Both clips have long disappeared into the Void, I’m afraid.

I agree with Rod that “One” wasn’t the best soundtrack to accompanying the visual, but I can understand why the track was used what with the Doctor being the same person despite all his various incarnations, and essentially there being lots of visual with different doctors and companions, but it was a hug or a laugh. One doctor, one companion. I’m probably reading too much into it.

No, I really liked it. It’s very clever to find all those similar moves, actions, moments, etc., and edit them togther. And the musical theme of unity or ‘oneness’ is appropriate too.

and what the real truth is ( it’s also a discrepancy from what MANY Christians bievele :Christ died for the WHOLE WORLD.His love and forgiveness are for the WHOLE WORLD. _______________________ It’s a very sad fact, however, that many, many people will reject that love and forgiveness. But for those who bievele it it’s the greatest news they could ever hear..
