Frontier in SPACE
Space has finally formally announced what they’ve been hinting at for a while. Namely:
- Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead is coming to space in July (July 25 to be precise)
- Torchwood: Children of Earth is also coming to Space in July
- Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars (premiering in Britain around November) and the two additional untitled specials that will finish off the David Tennant era will premiere later in 2009 and early 2010
- Starting in March, 2010, Space will have the rights to show Doctor Who Series 1-4 plus the specials The Christmas Invasion, The Runaway Bride and Voyage of the Damned (though they won’t have the rights to show Voyage until April 2010)
- And, as said elsewhere, they will be showing Series 5 in 2010 as well.

Is there any reason why they’re not able to show Voyage of the Damned until April 2010? CBC never showed it! They can’t be planning to, can they?
Bang goes seeing Martha depart, the Titanic crashing into the TARDIS and finding out why, before the Doctor runs into Donna again. In that order.
Because if they do, that’s quite a marathon of episodes from March 2010 to April 2010. Unless April 2010 is the earliest they’re able to show Voyage.

Re: Rachel
My best guess is the CBC negotiated Voyage of the Damned separately, which is why they have an extra month. Although they’re not showing DW on the regular CBC, the spin-off channel Bold is, and so I believe is Radio-Canada. So basically Space can’t touch 1-4 until March and a few weeks after that for Voyage.
I do have to wonder if there will actually be folks who, in this day of downloads and DVD, won’t have seen Voyage of the Damned long before it airs in 2010 anyway.

Torchwood: Children of Earth starts on Monday. I’m glad I just happened to see this post, or I would have missed the whole shebang.
