Companion Choices #4
Okay, acknowledging that my last choice is nothing more than idle fancy (but aren’t they all?), who then is an actress within the realm of possibility that I’d love to see cast as the next companion?

Well, my pick would be Shelley Conn. Ms. Conn has done a lot of series television lately (most notably the camp drama Mistresses) but she was also in Party Animals with Matt Smith. Actually, I say that but she doesn’t share a single scene with Matt Smith in all 8 episodes of the series. But she’s wonderful in it and easily was the most compelling actor not named Matt Smith in the production.
Like Susannah Harker, Conn’s smart, witty and the camera loves her like a soppy fourteen year old at a school dance with the girl he’s been pining after. She’s also got a lovely way with acerbic dialogue which means she’d be great with Moffat’s writing. She’s a about five years older than Matt Smith, but, as with Harker, that could enhance the Doctor/companion relationship.
If Party Animals caught Piers Wegner’s attention in terms of Matt Smith, maybe there’s a possibility Shelley Conn caught his attention as well. She’d be great.

If you want to see who will be the next sexy companion in Doctor Who then watch the ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ show this Friday (23/01/2009) on BBC1 at 10:35pm.
I don’t think this companion is as sexy as some, but all to their own taste.

Mark - you could say that between now and when Matt Smith is broadcasted as the next Doctor that David Tennant could have at least another four companions (one for each forthcoming special). I’d love to take that role, but for various reasons I’d doubt it would happen.
I really don’t know who’d I like to see as the eleventh Doctor’s companion. I do know however that it would be nice to have a companion whom doesn’t fall in love with him, but then again, it really depends on a) how Matt Smith portrays him, b) his Doctor’s qualities, and c) his Doctor’s dress sense!
