Cyber-Stunt Takes Terror To The Tube
A cool publicity stunt saw the re-creation of an iconic photograph, and an attack on London Underground commuters today. Too bad the photographer didn’t match the exact lens, and angle of the original cybershot from Invasion.
It was all done to “celebrate” (ie PROMOTE) the launch of the Doctor Who Experience - a fully interactive themed adventure and exhibition opening in the capital in February.
Wonder if they used an Oyster Card?

Someone wasn’t thinking - I’d have sent one of them through the security screening area for one of the US airlines at Heathrow and have them get a pat down!

The problem is area around St. Paul’s has been redeveloped in the past 42 years, and the stairs going all the way down which would enable such a camera angle is no longer there. Which is a shame, really.

I don’t think it is impossible due to the current geography it just looks like he/she didn’t REALLY try. You may not get the entire staircase in… but the angle and size of St. Paul’s in the background could have been matched better. The new one used a wider lens closer to the cybermen while the original was tighter further away. Unless there’s a wall right there I think they could have matched it a bit better. But that’s just me wanting a cool framed side by side poster of it.

If it wasn’t in such bad taste, I’d mention that in addition to central London being invaded by bands of marauding Cybermen, crack teams of cyber-Cyber-hackers attempted to bring down the internet and several essential web-sites.
very sorry to hear about the hacking. Is it very complicated to restore this web-site?

P.S. I prefer the original Invasion photo, which coincidently became my desktop background this afternoon.

Not complicated per si… just something we are trying to get on top of. But DWIN is without any real full-fledged take-the-nimon-by-the-horns enthusiastic web support. Just some fine folk doing their best when they can. (Job Offer!)
As for the actual hack. The evidence left behind indicates either a group of angry Blake’s 7 fans from Chad, or a Norwegian Star Trek Filk Group. Interpol has been contacted.

PS. I love the Invasion photo… a reason why I wanted to see, as best possible, a “perfect” modern day re-creation.
