Countdown To Logo…
Apparently at 8AM UK time the new logo for the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who is going to be unveiled.
You have to give these guys credit. The last logo to debuted in 2004 as part of the ridiculous new series promo feature, Whospy, which took pictures of random props during shooting and after 13 or so weeks of them gave us a picture of Chris Eccleston in costume and then showed us the logo. Which caused the Internet to melt down and the BBC designers—whose names were originally included—to be flooded with hate mail by Very Bad Fans.
Now it’s a big EVENT! Watch this space! Tomorrow! 8AM! Oooh! Ahhh!

Well that’s….a bit boring. I’m not sure what I expected, I guess something more colourful.
Actually though, I kind of like the stripped-down effect, and the TARDIS thing is rather clever.
I can live with it.

When I first saw it I thought the TARDIS shape spelled “11” and not “DW”. Whether this was intentional on the designer’s part or not, who knows?
I’ll definitely miss the oranges and yellows of the recent logo though.
