Reality Bomb Episode 017

On the seventeenth episode of Reality Bomb we have another supersized episode featuring our final panel review of Series 8 that includes Lori Steuart, Jon Arnold and Children’s Fantasy author Lou Anders (Thrones and Bones: Frostborn). We also have a conversation with Cat Smith and Lindsey Mayers about Missy / The Master. And Titan’s Doctor Who tenth Doctor comic book writer Nick Abadzis tries (and possibly fails) to get The Twin Dilemma into the Gallery of the Underrated. All this plus Listeners’ Letters, poltical attack ads you need to hear… and host Graeme Burk gets an offer he can’t refuse!

As a long time listener and happily friend of the show, I thought I’d send my comments for the December episode. First, I hope the children’s roundtable is a recurring segment because out of the mouth of babes provides insights and laughs. Next, the Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe falls flat for me at the end with Madge flying through the time vortex and the saving of the husband because it is too insipid and sweet. I can’t believe it and Madge loses all edge that she had before. Finally, I agree with Petra and Graham that Doctor Who and television in general need women writers (as most occupations do). However, I disagree that having women writers means that female characters will be better realized. Helen Raynor created the Tallulah who was completely distinguished by her relationship with a man who was a pig…not a euphemism. Great characters are written by great writers and it is not hinged on gender. Thanks for another thought-provoking show.
