Timely _ There should always be an end date. For instance, if you just want to grow the business without setting a time, you would keep working at it endlessly, and reach nowhere. So set a time within which you want to achieve the defined results. Once you have come this far, you will need to prioritize the goals according to the significance or impact on the final outcome. This is particularly relevant if you have set several goals. You must decide which goals are more important to you, and this decision should be based on how important the final outcome is. The more important the outcome, the higher should be the priority.
Attainable _ Let\'s face it. Not everyone is physically gifted like Michael Jordan. For me the goal of breaking Mike\'s points per game record is simply unattainable. In that same breath I will say that you can do almost anything you put your mind to. SMART goal setting dictates that you must only set daily goals that are under your control. Using our example above it would not be good to set a goal that said, \"I will get 2 business leads every day no matter what.\" This is setting yourself up for failure. It was a huge mistake I made when just starting out in MLM. I set that very goal and then beat myself up when I didn\'t reach it every single day. A better goal would state \"I am prospecting at least 5 people every day to get 30 leads each month.\" That means I am marketing to at least 5 people every day on average. The one thing everyone has control of is their work habit. We can\'t dictate the results, but we can do the work and let the law of averages take over. That\'s SMART goal setting.
